Tree of Truth

I made this piece after taking a class on Asian Americans and Education. During one of our class sessions, we discussed how American public school textbooks are written from a handful of major companies. This meant their perspective is only so big and knowledge of the whole truth is limited to what they are exposed to. What our education system should be rooted in, is the immense amount of culture our country is made of, along with the voices of their unique stories.

Coffee is a drug.

I live in a consumer society. We are what we eat.
My professor, Joel Carreiro, has a technique he regularly uses, in which he prints images onto iron-on and then uses those images to create a new image. Using a similar technique, I teared pieces of iron-ons to create the background for this piece.

Polar Opposites

My brother and I are polar opposites. I am easily affected by my surroundings while he takes his and uses it to his own advantage. While he is naturally tall and skim, I was stuck with the less fortunate genes. We stand on opposite grounds but the Father has used use to bring each other closer to Him.
