Last Saturday, I went to the market (where you also go to buy fish and vegetables) to get my hair done by a Khmer hairdresser with Sana. (Why not?!) I showed them a photo of how I wanted it done and for the next three hours, I sat.
There is currently probably fifty shades of brown/blonde in my hair with hints of my original hair color. The pictures do not do it justice. I do have strands of straight up white hair.
After she washed it out, all the girls around the market just sat around and stared. They were shocked at how light my hair got. Apparently, in their many years of dying hair (girls & guys in Cambodia get their hair dyed A LOT) this has never happened. They have all tried getting their own hair that light but they just can't make it happen! They think it's because my hair has a lot of vitamins that did the job of making it lighter.
Things just came out a lot lighter than she expected — like the white bleached strands.
I would totally go back to her in the future.
