Top three things that the Father has put the love for in my heart is People, Art, and Culture. Studying Asian American Studies in college - I was more than excited to be able to teach Culture Studies to year two students. In my mind, it is still a big challenge. The culture classes I have taken are often structured around discussion and readings of other's past experiences/studies. Now, I have a classroom of twenty or so students who are there because they are required to take the course and may or may not have a driving passion to come to class every week to respectfully tell another student in an extreme loud and firm voice that their comments are nothing but racist (like I did...for a solid semester...or two...).
To be given the opportunity to stand in front of a classroom and share with the class about the beauty of the people the Father has created all over the world is nothing but extremely exciting. The preparation for this class is constantly humbling. It has been great as I take the time to remember the things that make each of us unique - whether it be our education, our loves, our customs, our language, our history - it establishes our culture. No two of us are the same.
I am loving Miss America 2014! Her talent portion was amazinggggg!
